Registrants and representative organisations

Registrants

Communicating with our registrants is essential to the work that we do. It is important that registrants are kept up to date with developments that affect their professional registration. In addition to calling our Registration Department, registrants can:

The MyHCPC App provides the key information for registrants in a mobile app.

Professional bodies

Each of the professions we regulate has at least one professional body and / or association. These organisations do work that may include promoting the profession, representing members, curriculum frameworks, post-registration education and training, and continuing professional development. Whilst these organisations are separate from the HCPC, their role is often complementary to ours.

We engage with professional organisations through:

  • annual meetings with the Chair and Chief Executive;
  • inviting them to participate in our consultations and professional liaison groups;
  • stakeholder events, for example, the discussion event on the Mid Staffordshire Inquiry report;
  • providing copies of our publications for their members;
  • providing information on key issues and registration renewal dates;
  • actively promoting HCPC news and updates and placing articles in professional journals and magazines; and
  • collaborating with professional bodies on joint campaigns.

You can find contact details for professional bodies and associations on the relevant profession page.

HCPC Fitness to Practise Partnership Forums

Twice a year we hold HCPC Fitness to Practise forums which are attended by members of professional bodies, trade unions and our fitness to practise department.

At the meetings we discuss regulatory developments, particularly those which may affect the individuals who undergo fitness to practise proceedings. These may include updates to our policies, statistics and trends, research work, or operational approaches.

The aim is to obtain greater understanding of the issues faced by the stakeholders to the regulatory process and collaborate to achieve balanced outcomes for the registrants and the public. These meetings are usually held in May and November.

If you are a representative body and would like more information about the forum or would like to attend, please email us on repsbodiesfeedback@hcpc-uk.org.
